New Pictures of the Cambridge Family released for the Chelsea Flower Show

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge surprised us tonight with a new series of photos taken from their family at the ‘Back to Nature’ Garden of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The garden, co-designed by the Duchess, will be revealed tomorrow, but the Cambridge children were given a preview today with their parents. The Duchess has been working on the garden all week and is said to be very proud of the result. HRH worked with landscape architects Andrée Davies and Adam White on the garden since September. She will show around the Queen and other members of the Royal Family tomorrow.

The pictures were taken by Matt Porteous, the Cambridge’s favourite family photographer. You might remember his shots from Prince George when he celebrated his 3rd birthday or the Christmas photograph of the whole family last year.

Over the past month, Over the past months, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have helped The Duchess gather moss, leaves and twigs to help decorate the Back to Nature Garden. Hazel sticks collected by the family were also used to make the garden’s den.

The Duchess designed the garden with her own childhood memories in mind, but she also took the memories from her time in the gardens with her children with her in the designing process. The Duchess of Cambridge is a strong advocate for the proven benefits the outdoors has on physical and mental health, and the positive impact that nature and the environment can have on childhood development in particular.

A wonderful quote from the Duchess: “I really feel that nature and being interactive outdoors has huge benefits on our physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for young children.”

The children also tried out the swing in the garden, on which we saw the Duchess too earlier this week on some released pictures from the preparations (we’ll have those pictures in the two-weekly review tomorrow!).
